importantes riscos e benefícios, que diferem para a mãe e
para o feto (risco de rotura uterina, morbidade febril, ne-
cessidade de transfusão sanguínea e histerectomia).
Características que se associam claramente a uma evo-
lução favorável da PTP são a indicação da primeira cesárea
por fator não recorrente e o antecedente de parto vaginal,
no caso das multíparas com uma cesárea anterior.
Enquanto os dados não forem conclusivos a respei-
to da melhor via de parto nessa situação, deverá ser de
ajuda o reconhecimento dos fatores prognósticos asso-
ciados ao fracasso da PTP, na tentativa de selecionar me-
lhor as parturientes que podem ser efetivamente subme-
tidas a esse procedimento.
